Outmano vs. Ripplewatch: two trackers to ask from Claude
Outmano and Ripplewatch both track competitors for small teams and answer over MCP. How they differ on coverage, deal scoring, assistants and price.
Outmano and Ripplewatch are two of the newer, lower-priced ways to keep an eye on competitors, and both can be questioned from an AI assistant over MCP. They look similar from a distance and work differently up close. Here's an honest side by side, from the point of view of someone choosing between them.
A note up front: we make Ripplewatch. Outmano is described from what its own site says, read on October 15, 2026. We haven't run it on our own competitors, so this is a comparison of what each one says it does, not a test of how well it does it.
What Outmano is
Outmano's homepage describes AI agents that track each competitor across ten angles: pricing, features, roadmap, reviews, SEO, paid ads, content, hiring, news and brand mentions on Hacker News and Reddit. Every plan includes every angle, and the price depends on how many competitors you track. The weekly output goes beyond a digest to a ranked action plan with evidence and a first step for each item, and each competitor gets a sales battlecard with a share link. Big moves can post to Slack.
Its MCP server is included in every plan and is read-only: your assistant can look up pricing changes, SEO standings, content activity, roadmap shifts, reviews and the weekly action plan, and can't change anything. You connect with an API key and a config entry. Outmano lists Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Codex CLI, Cursor and Grok Bot as working today, and says ChatGPT custom apps can't connect with its key yet, with OAuth support on its roadmap.
What Ripplewatch is
Ripplewatch watches a narrower set of things, competitors' pricing, hiring, press and product changes, and scores each one against your own positioning and your history of won and lost deals. That deal history is the part you build up: you tell your assistant how a deal went in plain English, or import a spreadsheet, and the same competitor move then scores differently for you than for the next company. Like Outmano it has Slack alerts and a weekly email.
You add it to Claude or ChatGPT by pasting one URL and signing in, with no key or config file. It's $29 a month plus usage from a balance you prepay, starting at $50.
Where they actually differ
- **Coverage.** Outmano is broader. SEO, paid ads, review tracking and brand mentions on Hacker News and Reddit are on its list, and Ripplewatch doesn't cover them. If you want to know which keywords a rival is chasing or what ads they're running, that's Outmano.
- **What a finding is scored against.** Outmano compares a competitor's pricing against your own plans and learns which suggestions you turn down. Its pages don't describe using your won and lost deals. Ripplewatch's scoring is built on them.
- **Read-only or read and write.** Outmano's MCP server can only read. Ripplewatch's can also log a deal when you tell your assistant about it, which is how the deal history grows.
- **Which assistants.** Outmano works with the developer-leaning clients above. Ripplewatch works in Claude and ChatGPT, plus developer tools with an API key.
- **Setup.** Outmano: generate a key, paste a config entry, and for Claude Desktop use a small bridge package. Ripplewatch: paste a URL and sign in, or use a key for developer tools.
- **Price shape.** Outmano is a flat monthly price by competitor count. As of October 15, 2026, Starter lists at $49 a month for 5 competitors, with a 40% founder discount to $29.40 applied at checkout, and Growth and Pro list at $99 for 10 and $199 for 25. Ripplewatch is $29 a month plus usage, so your bill depends on how much you ask. For a handful of competitors and occasional questions the two come out close. For heavy use, a flat price is easier to predict.
- **Trial.** Outmano's Starter has a 14-day free trial, and it asks for a card up front. Ripplewatch has a free one-time competitor snapshot that needs only your email, no card.
How to choose
- **Pick Outmano** if you want wide coverage across SEO, ads, content and reviews, ready-made battlecards, a flat price, and you work mostly in Claude Code or Cursor.
- **Pick Ripplewatch** if the question that matters is "does this move matter for our deals," you'd rather use ChatGPT or Claude without any setup, and you're willing to feed it a few deals.
- **Not sure?** Try both cheaply. Run Ripplewatch's free competitor snapshot on one rival, and start Outmano's trial on a few of the same ones. Whichever you actually open next week is your answer.
